KeynectUp Combats Robocalls with Caller ID Authentication

On September 19th, 2019, Apple launched its long-awaited iOS 13 software, available for download on a wide swath of iPhones. Alongside a slew of other features, one of the most-awaited was Apple’s new call-blocking technology. Apple claimed that it would reduce the amount of spam calls iPhone users would experience by sending any unknown caller to voicemail. Over 50% of iPhone users have downloaded iOS 13 already.

Apple does issue a warning about its call-blocking feature: “Before you turn on Silence Unknown Callers, make sure you have important contacts saved or you could miss a phone call that you don’t want to miss.” When it comes to these unknown callers, Apple’s call-blocking feature may be a little too good. With the spam-blocking feature activated, any phone number not saved in your contacts will go right to voicemail.

To help businesses ensure their calls aren’t mistaken for robocalls, KeynectUp is partnering with risk managers and risk service providers to ensure their contacts are stored in clients’ phones. KeynectUp allows businesses to design and share company phone numbers easily with customers through a digital contact card – called a KeynectUp card. Once a KeynectUp card is saved to a customer’s phone, any inbound calls from the saved phone numbers won’t get caught in an iPhone’s spam filter.

The timing is right for utilizing KeynectUp’s contact-saving card; since nearly 50% of all calls place in 2019 are spam, the FCC is pushing the communication industry to adopting robust means for identifying robocallers. Twelve big phone companies, including AT&T, Verizon, TMobile, and Sprint are all committed to blocking robocalls for their users. Verizon has already opted-in some of its users to a robocall-blocking feature similar to Apple’s.

With KeynectUp’s contact-saving technology, your business’ call will never be mistaken for spam, and will always be labeled with caller ID and logo. KeynectUp also helps a business’ customers easily get in contact when they need assistance. A KeynectUp card is easy to access with a simple search in the contacts.
