Best Software For Startups

There is a sea of products out there and as a startup you spend a long time sifting through the ones that help your business and the ones that actually slow you down. As we have building up KeynectUp, we ran into challenges and so spent time evaluating software to try and help us along in the journey. At one point I think I counted 60 individual logins for all these products, someone needs to solve that. No I really mean solve it. Anyway below are the products we use or have used. Please not some products may be great or have been improved, but at the time of trial they did not suit are needs.

Godaddy7Domains and SSLNot the cheapest domain register, but has always served us well. You need to negotiate on their EV SSL(TLS) certificates as they are expensive at list price.https://godaddy.com
Domains By Proxy
Pipedrive7CRMPipedrive has grown while we have grown. I do feel we will outgrow it. Their sales mangement reporting sucks. Also we find the import options very limited. They too easily fallback and say do that integration with Zapier. We have had issues with integrating mailchimp as there is not 2 way supporthttps://pipedrive.com
Leadfeeder7Who visits websiteNice to see who has visited the website. Can be tough to really turn it into a deal, but it really helps with sales persons moral when they see one of their clients visit the site. Integration into Pipedrive is pretty ugly and the updates often get missed.
Twilio9SMSAlmost never misses a beat. Wish they had more international support, but otherwise they have been a great company to work with.
CRMText9SMSGreat team, great support, couldn't recommend them high enough.
Bit.ly7URL ShortnerGreat utility, but as you scale you may want to develop your own to give you extra flexibility and keep costs down.
UpWork6.5RecruitmentVery hit and miss on finding good talent. Rate is not inidcative of talent. We found multiple times that people are billing for the same hours to multiple companies. Screen capture has been a nice way to limit this. Fire people quickly if they are not working out.https://upwork.com
Jira6DevelopmentCrappy interface, but developers love it, so we use it, couldn't manage without it. It could be much more user friendly.
PRNewsWire3Press ReleasesNobody seems to read Press Releases, certainly not from a startup, save your money.
Mandrill7Email APIWorked without a hiccup. Was very easy to integrate
Mailchimp7Email CampaignsDespite what people say, we found the workflow and interface pretty confusing and poor. We are not using everything
AWS8Server/Hosting platform
Google Developer Account8Address LookupThe best utility to pre populate an address for our users
Twitter6Social mediaWe get very little engagement from Twitter, but people expect you to be here.
Linkedin (Sales Navigator)7Great if you know the job function of your target audience. Groups on the platform seem useless these days.

Elegant Themes7.5Website ThemeLove the Theme, took a little bit to learn, but we are happy with the results, or our customers say they are. They need table support and also to make their theme quicker, but otherwise all good.
MyLiveChat
Cookie Policy (DFactory)
Amazon Payments
Mailchimp
Paypal6PaymentsThere screens for customers could be a little bit more intuitive and not particularly cheap, but no issues.
Xero7AccountsVery easy to setup. Workflow is poor for creating invoices. Handling of automated Paypal payments causes lots of headaches. Address search functionality sucks, they should have just used Google. Hoping the product improves soon.http://xero.com

Paper.li2MarketingUsed this utility to create content for our audience. We found automated content doesn't fly anymore. Just creating less more thoughtful content delivered better results. Moved to free service will ditch them soonhttps://paper.li

iWriter6Blog, article writingWe were happy with this service, but found it was easier to write our own content, certainly a good option as long as you control the talking points.
